Phased Array Corrosion Mapping
Automated corrosion mapping has become an integral part of NDT inspection campaigns and is widely accepted within integrity management programs and written schemes of examination. However, to optimize productivity, corrosion mapping systems have traditionally been set with a relatively coarse resolution: data points every 3 to 5 mm (0.12 to 0.20 in).
With phased array UT technology, the RMS PA automated corrosion mapping system can help increase productivity, without sacrificing probability of detection, thanks to a 1 mm (0.040 in) resolution.
Phased array probes have a wide electronic footprint, and with a 1 mm (0.04 in) resolution across the width of the beam, the required scanning coverage is achieved with significant time reduction. The ability to collect high-resolution data at increased scanning speeds improves the probability of detection, enhance imaging, and improve defect characterization.
The water box produces a controlled and stable water-column which eliminates the need for a wedge, thus providing the benefits of improved signal consistency, accuracy, and limited dead zone. This concept offers enhanced surface conformance and improved coupling.

RMS Scanning Heads
The robust, field-proven RMS robotic scanning head has been successfully deployed on various assets such as storage tanks, pressure vessels, pipelines and other critical structures in harsh environments including oil and gas, offshore, mining and assets at temperatures up to 200°C (392°F).
RMS-600 ideal for scanning rates on large surface areas such as tank shells, pressure vessels, and other structures.
RMS-450 is designed for operating circumferentially on curved surfaces such as pipelines or pressure vessels from 152 mm (6 in) up to flat plate.
RMS-300 a general-purpose scanner for inspecting areas with limited access, vessel heads or other applications where smaller scan widths are required.
R-scan Array Manual Scanner
The RMS PA integrates a detachable handheld manual scanner for the inspection of smaller areas and assets ranging from 101 mm (4 in) to flat plate.
The R-scan array can be purchased as an independent scanner, simply connect the scanner to an M2M instrument and you have a semi-automated phased array corrosion mapping system with onboard data collection capabilities.
Ideal for complex geometry components and restricted access areas the R-scan array offers improved inspection dexterity and total battery-operated portability.

Integrated RMS Control Software
Fast and easy inspection setup with the RMS scanning heads being preconfigured within phased array software.
The user interface is developed to ease the workflow. The RMS control software is embedded into the M2M instruments and functions seamlessly with the phased array data capture and analysis software.
Due to the multiple angle data reconstruction, Total Focusing Method (TFM)/Full Matrix Capture (FMC) is less dependent on defect orientation, than other forms of advanced ultrasound. This feature allows for improved defect imaging and an increased probability of detection for unfavorably orientated damage mechanisms.
